Who We Are?

The history of the Schweigert family with the production of chia began in 2013, when the first yield volumes were exported. Exporting made us realize that the opportunity of selling our yield internationally was more profitable, so in 2014 we decided to invest in the field. That was the birth of Agricola Schweigert S.A., managed by Ricardo Hugo Schweigert and his children Ricardo, Eduardo and Raquel.  

The aim was to become a Paraguayan company recognized worldwide for its integrity, reliability and quality. For that, we needed to invest in quality improvement and achieve the international certifications required by the markets we were targeting – EU and USA. So, we built our first chia processing plant. The first certifications came in 2015 – the HACCP and the organic certifications for processing plant and fields. They represented and important step to our company, once we are specialized in organic seeds – which currently add up to 70% of our yield export. Four years later we achieved the most demanding standard in the food sector, the BRC certification.

In 2021 we enable our second processing plant, doubling the processing capacity – reaching 6T/hour- and allowing the incorporation of new items, such as sesame. Reinforcing our uncompromising focus in the continuous improvement through the investment in the potential of our lands, products and people.
